Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I normally like Chipotle but this location is terrible. Food has been cold and tasteless each time I have tried to give them another chance. I will be waiting for the day they close and something new comes in to try.

3 stars because it's Chipotle. Besides that; TERRIBLE. Been to this location probably a dozen times, and it's my least favorite Chipotle. Bros always want to give you like 4 grains of rice and a slice of chicken. If you ask for more rice they always act like it's coming out of their personal rice supply that is feeding their starving Grandmother or something. C'mon, I'm getting a vegetarian bowl with no beans, hook me up with an extra tablespoon. Besides that they're kind of rude. Guy tonight kept making "hurry up" gestures with his hands and saying "keep going" while I was in the middle if naming an ingredient. Weird. There were like 3 people in line. Point is, if you're craving chipotle and it's 10 minutes until closing time and this is the closest one, by all means, go. But otherwise, try another one. Burrito Bro needs that rice for his Grandma.

This location is often one of the worst Chipotle's I've been to. Granted, I live in the area, so it's the most convenient to get to so sometimes I hope to god that the next experience will be better than the last. It hardly ever is. They're VERY slow and considering there's only about five places for people to get lunch in the area, you'd think they'd be a bit faster. The food quality isn't completely terrible - when chicken still looks and tastes like chicken, I can't complain too much. HOWEVER, what I can complain about is the sanitation issues this location has. Firstly, this location always has very dirty work stations. The employees are not careful about keeping the worktop clear of food. But the worst part is that they contaminate food because of their lack of sanitation. My husband is vegan - chipotle is one of the few vegan/vegetarian friendly "fast food" places and one of the ONLY vegan friendly restaurants in New Albany. Every single time we go to this location, there is cheese in the guacamole. Granted, it's corporate's fault for thinking that it's a good idea to put cheese right next to guac, but the employees here truly must not care about accidentally mixing cheese into their vegan guacamole. The last few times my husband and I have eaten at this location, he skipped the guac altogether because he can't trust it anymore. This is sad because when you get veggies, you get free guac and he LOVES Chipotle's guac. But the ending point is that this location is dirty. You can't trust this location to have a clean workstation and you can't trust that there isn't cheese in the guacamole - vegans beware.

I love Chipotle but this location rarely makes the cut and today left me wishing I'd opted to stay home. Music - louder than a dance club. I couldn't even hear the workers ask what I wanted in my bowl. Couldn't hear the people at my table . No teamwork with the staff. Clearly some interpersonal problems at the counter. Even the B team stayed home today.
(1)Nick L.
I ordered a chicken quesadilla and what I received was a wet, sloppy mess. I came home and unwrapped it to see they had flipped open the tortilla before putting it into the press, causing one tiny section of the tortilla to be crispy, while the rest was unmelted cheese and cold chicken falling out of the floppy tortilla. I ended up not being able to pick up the uncooked tortilla, so I cooked it some more on my stovetop. I'm not sure about you, but when I go out to pick up food for dinner, I don't expect to have to cook it again when I get home. This location is well known for its frustrating and indifferent staff, poor food and restaurant quality, and as a local resident for 6 years I can attest to this. This is by far the most consistently terrible Chipotle location I've ever been to, save yourself the headache and go down the road to the next one.
(1)Amy H.
This place is rarely packed & super fast! They never skimp on the portions & I've always left happy. I'm not sure why this location doesn't have better reviews... Though fast food restaurants can definitely be hit or miss sometimes. I have been going to this one for a year & have yet to experience poor service or bad food.
(5)Cynthia B.
SO SLOW. Worst chipotle I've ever been to. My food is always cold when I get take-out, not because I live 30 minutes away or crash my car in the parking lot each time I visit, but because they are so slow. Today was my last visit ever. I was given burnt chicken scraps in my burrito bowl because they had not taken the time to replenish the stock. They didn't even bother to replenish the pepper and onion stock, either. I spent about 20 minutes there getting my lunch and that was with zero line. When will the owner/manager read our yelp reviews and start training the staff to move at a normal pace? Until then I will start driving to Easton or Hamilton road when a chipotle craving strikes!
(1)Erin D.
I hate to give a Chipotle a bad review, but this location just isn't good. My love of Chipotle is a 10+ relationship and this place nearly broke us up entirely. At its best it was a messy, dripping, soggy burrito. Long lines to get said burrito. At its worst, my hubby picked up NoroVirus here in 2011. As in the first night we got from the hospital after I had a baby! (Why oh why did I say I wanted Chipotle?!?) It was a miserable night for both of us. He was sick an hour after eating. His mom, a nurse, nearly sent him to the ER since he was sick for 3 days following. I called the health department following that. I'll stick to Hamilton Rd or State St in Westerville.
(1)Beth N.
This place sucks. The people working the food line are rude and have attitudes. They try to move "so fast" that they are sacrificing the quality of the food & service. I haven't been to this one in over 3 years and I will not be coming back ever again. The lady behind us in line complained about the service also. Horrible!!
(1)Jennifer E.
Their lines are always massive. I love chipotle but can only make the stop when I have 15 minutes to spare (on a good day) to wait in line for the food.
(3)Cassandra L.
This is the worst Chipotle I've ever been to. The staff refused to listen to my order and kept prompting options further down the line. They tried to not give me any salsa or sour cream. Everything was luke warm at best including the rice.... and it is the middle of lunch hour. The cashier was the ONLY welcoming face and person. I LOVE tex mex... but I won't be back for awhile.
(1)Adam B.
Poor management. This place is always unprepared, as if the previous day of pissed customers didn't happen. Waiting in line is always going to happen at his chipotle, because they are NEVER prepared. It only received two stars, because the food is still good and it's the nearest chipotle so I'll have to make due.
(2)Lynn S.
I'm really not sure why this location gets such bad reviews. I go here at least once a week and I have never been disappointed. They've never been out of anything and they give me the amount that I ask for. Everything is fresh as a Chipotle should be! The workers are friendly, accommodating and fast.
(5)Jordan H.
I love chipotle! This location however is the worst one i have ever been too. They are always out of something; rice, chicken, guacamole, hot salsa etc... I can't believe how poorly this business is ran.
(2)Corey Tess T.
Get a chicken salad or even a veggie salad for a healthy lunch option. GREAT TIP - Use the Chipotle iphone app, pay ahead of time and SKIP THE LINE. Walk in, grab your burrito and walk out... Yes, you will get dirty looks from people in the looooong line, but OH WELL!
(3)Gary D.
I have a love/hate relationship with this Chipotle. It's the closest to my home, so it's convenient. However, I have had more bad experiences than good. The best way to describe this restaurant is inconsistent. Varying portions, running out of ingredients, lackluster employees.
(3)Todd M.
Whoa. Terrible place. I waited for ONE person to make about 8 burritos in a row while about ten people were in the back not helping. I said "doesn't it bother you that you are the only one out here making burritos?" He said "they are getting all the side work done, so I don't mind." I said "I mind! 20 minutes in the shortest line ever!"
(1)Ryan D.
I wish I could give this less then one star. I work minutes from this location and my team and I have resorted to driving to Hamilton road or Easton Chipotle just to avoid the reoccurring poor service and quality of food we are continually offered by this location. I LOVE Chipotle and eat there multiple times a week. This location is humorously disconnected from the quality and standards of what would appear to be every other Chipotle in the world. No steak, no chicken, never have brown rice that was not undercooked, if they are not out or rice in general, out of fajita.... every time its something different. I was one forced to what felt like a lifetime, while I was the only person in line, while the girl behind the counter neatly whipped down the counter while I stood and stared. ALL I WANT IS SOME FREAKIN CHIPOTLE, and this location has let me down 95% of the time. I am confused at how hard it is for them to fix any of these issues.
(1)Kate M.
I have to update this review, because *something* happened at this location and now it's 100% better! The new crew is fast, friendly, and accurate. They don't seem to run out of food nearly as much anymore. It almost feels like corporate found out about the goings-on here and cleaned up. Whatever happened, it worked!

I wish I could give a 0. Early morning for me, so I showed up at 10:55am, with the understanding they would not open until 11am. Could see everyone bustling inside, and I was excited to get in. However, 11:20am rolls around, there's a line of 8 people outside, and they are still laughing together, goofing off, etc. Everyone outside is mocking their professionalism in a late opening and the goofing off. Finally, at 11:26am, i call, and say "what time do you open". Woman on the phone said she saw me and she would open the door in a minute. Tall gentleman (presumably manager) opens door, and explains they had a problem with the grill. I asked why he couldn't open the door to tell people this, instead of us all just watching the madness. His reply? We're not required to tell you this. What is this location, part of the military? Last time ever eating at any chipotle. I understand its' a low budget, fast-food restaurant, but I'll take my $10 dollars elsewhere.
(1)Marc O.
Every time I have gone to this location the wait is way longer than it should be. If there are just 5 people in line you might as well drive to the one in Gahanna. Last time I went there the person I was there with got a vege burrito. They hardly gave her any beans and then put 2 full ladles of tomato salsa on top. It was pretty gross. Also, because they take so long the burrito tends to get cold and break when they fold it. And I've ordered online and when I got there right on time, they hadn't even started my order and guess what, it took 10 minutes to get 2 burritos when there were only 2 other people in line.
(2)Todd M.
Quite possibly the worst Chipotle ever portions suck and they are always out of everything from guac to rice
(1)Meg G.
This is by far the WORST Chipotle location out there. They are always out of something, and it's clear that no one knows what they're doing or cares. We were so excited to get a more convenient location and it's a huge disappointment. There are days when we want Chipotle, but will skip it rather than go to this location. They can't even cook rice correctly. It's always undercooked, and that is on the rare occasion when they have it at all. They also give way less food than all of the other locations. And half the time we're left wondering if it's the employee's first time folding a burrito. My infant could do a better job (and he has tiny hands). When we submitted and online complaint we got an "I'm sorry, we'll talk to our employees," but absolutely no compensation for our terrible experience. It's going to be really sad if they can't get it together. It would at least be nice if they showed some interest in keeping customers.
(1)Amy B.
Avoid this place like the plague if possible. Actually, don't. I love Chipotle and this place is close to where I work, and I don't want it to go out of business :) So if you need a Chipotle fix, and you are in New Albany, this place will do in a pinch. Expect that they will be out of many menu items (rice, chicken, beans, you name it!) They may or may not have forks, napkins, baskets, etc. Prepare to wait in line for a while. Don't expect that your "to go" order will be correct, because it will surely not be. And they won't give a sh*t about all of the above offenses. But hey, it is Chipotle and because of that I will continue to go there - hoping someday they get it right! *** update - this place occasionally still runs out of things but has all in all gotten their act together! Therefore I changed from a 2 star to a 3 star rating. They still have a ways to go but are much much improved!
(3)Sandy N.
Always out of something. The last time it was chips, before that brown rice. Slow lines. On TH - paper taped to the door that they were just closed. ( at 7 PM) Chipotle Corporate should look into the mismanagement occurring here.
(1)Ben T.
One of the worst chipotle restaurants out there. Slow, poorly stocked, and they often misplace items out of your to-go bag. The last four times we went, we ordered the same order and paid four different prices. They don't know what's going on. Two stars since its a chipotle and it's possible to get a good order about once every half dozen visits. They have the skills to ruin chips and even the rice at times.
(2)Cate M.
Out of guacamole for the day at 7 pm, didn't find out till the end of the line. My vegetarian burrito only has a few ingredients, and guacamole is key.
(1)M B.
I'm not at this location right now but something's telling me they are out of brown rice and their are 3 idiots standing around with their thumbs up their butts! Call it a hunch!
(1)Greg P.
If you're looking for the worst Chipotle in the Columbus area, this location is certainly in the running. They are almost certain to be out of something when you go: rice, chicken, beans, forks, napkins, etc. Today's missing item was black beans. Last Friday a co-worker was there at 11:15 a.m. (15 minutes after they open) and they were out of chicken. Seriously?!?! Also, why does the drink area always look like a bomb has just gone off? I had lunch there today and ordered a burrito. It was one of the few times I've been there when the person wrapping the burrito actually knew what they were doing. My luck ran out once I got the register and discovered that they didn't have any clean red baskets. I guess I was on my own to eat my burrito without spilling rice and beans into my lap. Last Friday I experienced a disaster with a faxed order. I faxed in the order sheet at 11 a.m. (when they open) requesting an 11:30 a.m. pickup. I called a few minutes later to confirm the faxed order and was told that they couldn't have my order ready at 11:30 and asked if I could pick it up later. We agreed on an 11:45 pickup instead. I ended up standing next the register like an idiot for about 30 minutes because my order wasn't ready. They ended up not charging me for the order but it should have never come to that. They called me later that afternoon to make sure everything was correct with my order and asked if I had any suggestions as to how to improve the fax order process. Last I checked I don't work in restaurant management and it isn't my responsibility to bail out their sinking ship. The Chipotle location at the intersection of Morse & Hamilton wipes the floor with this place. One thing I noticed that the Morse & Hamilton location does during the lunch rush is to have one person out in the dining room area who is in charge of keeping the drink area clean and fully stocked and wiping down tables as people leave. Why doesn't the New Albany location do this?
(2)J R.
The other reviews hit the nail on head here. In short: - This location is ALWAYS out of an item or several on EVERY visit, especially if I show up after 8pm. This can be anything from salad, rice, chicken (and completely forget about fajita vegetables), but they have also been out of the actual bowls that hold the food items on several occasions I have visited. - I have ordered online twice and both times the pre-made order has been wrong (they forgot chicken in my chicken bowl once, and the second time forgot fajita vegetables & mild salsa), so I never order online any longer for this location - just wait in line if you're in a pinch so you can force them to make it correctly (that is assuming the items you want are even in stock.) - One time I did go around 9:15 and had to wait 10 minutes for chicken to be prepared, BUT the manager did comp my meal and the other 6-7 people's meals (who were waiting as well) without us having to complain about the wait for them to cook new chicken. - The workers seem friendly enough here most of the time, but EVERY single trip here one or SEVERAL ESSENTIAL items (I'm not talking guacamole) have ALWAYS been out of stock. I simply stopped going after getting shafted 6-7 trips in a row. This location needs to get things together ASAP or they're going to run themselves out of business. - I drive the extra 5-10 minutes down to the Hamilton/Morse Rd location, if I really need to get a Chipotle fix (and I live 1/4 mile from this location). - I also work for a major employer close by and yup - you guessed it - any large group order for lunch, never fails, at least 2 orders out of our usual 10 are wrong and missing items in the bowls/burritos.
(1)Shawnda D.
Really quick and to the point - this Chipotle is pretty, darn good! I'm really not sure why the reviews for this particular location are so bad. Compared to other Chipotles in the Columbus area, I think this is one of the better ones. But, that's just my opinion, I guess...
(4)Jeff P.
A swirling cauldron of fail. For some reason I've continued to go to this Chipotle on a weekly basis since last October (generally to avoid the 15 min drive to the Morse Rd location). After eating there twice this week I finally feel compelled to post. Earlier this week they were out of steak. Tonight they were out of the corn salsa and lettuce, yes, lettuce. Every other week they are out of a minimum of one key item. But those pale in comparison to the 3-Stooges level of hilarity I've experienced at this location. A couple months back I walk up to the line being greeted by an extra smiley employee sharpening his culinary knife..... directly over the meat station, lol. When I pointed out he was raining razor sharp shards of metal into the meat, his smile dropped, he turned around and in the process almost stabbed another female employee walking up behind him with a new pan of chicken. Can they please have atleast ONE person over 19 on every shift? I have 5-6 other stories like that, from a vat of sour cream being spilt on the floor to a cashier giving me a free guac & chips because he claimed "it comes with the vegetarian burrito". After 4 attempts of online ordering, I've completely given up at this location. I have NEVER gotten an order correct. It is literally impossible to order brown rice via online ordering at the New Albany location. They will never get it correct. I've put it in ALL CAPS and copied and pasted it 5 times in a row in the requests section and they still give me white rice. This is the only Chipotle where there is no one in line ahead of you, yet it still can take 5-12 minutes to complete your transaction. The amount of shear slow bumbling, your topping station worker randomly walking to the back kitchen for 90 sec while your food just sits, waiting 2-3 minutes for a cashier to come to the front and man their register, etc. is simply astounding. And finally, as a long-time Chipotle customer, the most startling thing to me: this is the only Chipotle where the food often looks different. The steak is often far undercooked. I love rare steak and do not mind at all; but I imagine some of the deep blood-red chunks of steak I've seen at this location turn many people off. And many times the corn salsa and pico de gallo salsa actually look different as if they're not following procedures. Sometimes there's virtually no cilantro in the fresh tomato version and it just looks like cut up tomato and onion. Often the corn salsa looks like a straight-up can of corn with a few flecks of green. As well, the portion sizes are much smaller than every other Chipotle. The most impressive thing about Chipotle is how consistent the quality and service is. And this is the only store I've come across in my 12 years of Chipotle love that outright strays from the brand standards.

I'm sure plenty of people in the New Albany, OH area had been awaiting the Grand Opening of Chipotle Mexican Grill on New Albany Rd West. I can't be sure of it's exact opening date but let's say roughly 3-4 weeks ago. Made my third trip their last night only to be disappointed once again with their service. I'm not normally one that has a problem waiting but this is starting to get obnoxious. I never would have guessed a 25 minute wait at 5pm with only 6 people in front of me. Don't get me wrong their food was consistent as always but 25 minutes...c'mon! At what point is it no longer considered acceptable to have your staff oblivious to what's happening? I can understand a few kinks here and there for a week or so, but after three weeks? On a more positive note this Chipotle has a very unique decor. Unlike any other I've visited and I've definitely seen my fair share. I intend to visit again. Clearly I need to find a more "off-time" to eat out and avoid even the slightest of lines until they get on the ball. I'm as much a Chipotle fan as anyone and hope they can get this turned around quickly and add a star or two in my book!
(3)Austin H.
This location sucks donkey ass. They are always running out of something. Guac, rice, steak, you name it they've run out of it. Service is slow and there is obviously a large void in management. Chipotle at stone ridge wipes the floor with this one and that one does 5x the business. Get some Mexicans in there to show the kids running this place how to work.
(1)Lori B.
We had hoped that this location would be our savior from the loooong lines at the Chipotle on Morse Rd. Well...there is not much waiting at this location, but they do not have a clue how to do things! In the last 3 visits they were out of: guacomole, fajita vegetables, RICE and CHICKEN! OMG...how do you run out of these things, but especially chicken and rice!? Honestly, it's worth the 20 minute wait at the other location where at least they know how to stay stocked and put together good food. This place has been open for months, and is HOPELESS.

First point of business: While this is totally subjective--I would like to add the caveat that I am probably the least high maintenance customer one could come across. That being said... wow. I am one of Chipotle's biggest fans and this review is in no way a reflection on the many, many fine Chipotle burritos and establishments I have come across. I think one thing this particular location had going against it from the get go was the high bar set by the many other locations that really delivered a great experience and burrito. Unfortunately, this location single-handedly destroyed that notion. Being a resident of New Albany, I was ecstatic when I found out the rumors of a Chipotle being built in front of Giant Eagle were true. The employees at the Hamilton Rd. location, that is a bit further away, have perfected the art of burrito construction, but unfortunately--the line was always into the dining area when I stopped in (not a huge deal... always worth it). My first few initial visits to the recently opened New Albany location were met with some of the same issues that others have expressed in their reviews. They were new and still working out some kinks, it's understandable--until my most recent (and last) visit. My wife and I stopped in later on a weekday--after the dinner crowd. After waiting a few minutes for the people in front of us to order, we put in our standard orders. Steak quesadilla for the lady, and I went for my usual chicken burrito. We made it through the first round of choosing our rice and meats... then, disaster. After my wife's quesadilla was passed onto the young man working the next part of the line, she noticed that there was a neon pink piece of uncooked steak on the edge of her quesadilla. (I'm often accused of being a vampire for my preference of medium rare steak, and even I wouldn't have touched it). Breaking mid conversation with his buddy to his left, he asked, "what salsa do you want on it?" My wife nicely replied, "can you please take that uncooked piece of steak off the side?" He then proceeds to continue his conversation with his co-worker and, without taking off the piece that was cause for concern, adds the chili salsa and cheese, wraps it up and throws it in the oven. Somewhere in this process my wife and I give each other a confused look of "how did what he heard translate into THAT?" and then I try to get his attention to stop. He didn't hear me so I said to my wife, "forget it." After the quesadilla is taken out by the manager, who is working the last section of the line, I say to him, "sir, my wife asked to have the undercooked meat taken off her quesadilla and it wasn't done." Almost before I could finish my statement, he quickly shoots back a scripted response of "all steak is cooked medium-rare" and doesn't even look up to make eye contact as he is wrapping up my burrito. (Frustration is starting to set in). A minute passes as our orders are placed by the cash register to pay, and at this point, I get the managers attention again and say, "OK, I don't think you understood--my wife asked for one piece of really pink steak to be taken off her quesadilla and your employee didn't do it, and then proceeded to put on random salsa and cheese she didn't even ask for. That's why I was telling you that." He responds, "OK, sorry--we can make you a new one." He then holds the quesadilla at chest level above the trash for a couple seconds and then drops it in. Without even asking her what she DID want on it he makes her a new steak and cheese quesadilla. To top it off, after the new quesadilla is done, the manager brings it over and like "presents" (hard to explain) it to us like his hand is a platter or something--in the most patronizing way. While they did comp the quesadilla, I still left pretty irritated. And that my friends... is why I would avoid this particular Chipotle location like the plague.

Not sure what it is about this location, but they just can't seem to get it together...... I was pretty excited to learn there was finally going to be a Chipotle in New Albany. But after my experience there just after they opened, the excitement was quickly gone. Long wait time, under cooked food, no leadership for the employees, you name it. I figured they just needed some time to work out the kinks since it's a new location, but that is not the case. Went there today to find the barbacoa sitting in a vat of grease, the steak looked like it had been sitting out for a while, cold chicken, employees that seem like they have no direction...... I could go on. My point is this location has been open for somewhere in the ballpark of 4 or 5 months, and they still can't pull their heads out of their you know what. Does Corporate Chipotle not care???? Will this location ever rise to the likes of other Chipotle locations? I've even mentioned my thoughts about the New Albany location to some of the closer Chipotle locations, and they are well aware of the New Albany location sub-par performance...... What Gives?
